How it all began..
Ilana J excelled in classical piano at a young age, but her dream of a future in the music industry was shelved for a more traditional career path; that is until the summer of 2008 in Maine, where she found the inspiration she needed to open her heart again to her music.Ilana dived in with intensive musical training on both the guitar and the piano, and almost immediately began writing songs, as if the lyrics and music had just been waiting to be heard. After 18 months of hard work, supported every step of the way by her friends and family, a chance meeting in 2013 with Mark Alexander, ex-keyboard player with Meat Loaf, gave her the final push she needed to follow her dream. It was time to start recording her songs.
Since beginning her recording journey Ilana’s musical style has evolved naturally and, with producer Mark, she has been busy recording all her own original tracks in a home studio, which has not been without its challenges. Her contemporary musical heroes are Sia, Colbie, Callait and, in particular, Ed Sheeran because she “loves his unique musical style and he’s a super-talented singer/songwriter”.

Ilana J’s debut EP “Free Falling from the Ground Up” comprises 6 original songs written and performed by Ilana J and produced by Mark Alexander. Her latest single release “Angel” was written for a boy called Josh who suffers from Angleman Syndrome and will support fundraising efforts to raise money to fund research to help those affected by this condition.

Ilana is aiming to raise $50,000 for this charitable organization though the “Angel” campaign.Ilana has known #LittleJosh since he was a toddler and she knows what difficulties him and his family faces now and in the future with no treatments yet available. The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (F.A.S.T.) is committed to funding research to find effective treatments and indeed a cure. “Angel” is currently available for free download on her website www.ilanaj.com
Current Projects..
Her debut album A Star Full of Skies is now in the production stage and will be released in October 2016. The lead track off the new album is called “Not Alone” and will be released on 29th February 2016 with the accompanying music video filmed in Los Angeles. This music video will incorporate contributions from people around the world and the song has been written and recorded to remind us all that whatever we’re going through, we’re not alone.
UK Tour 2016..
Ilana J is from Birmingham, England but currently resides in Connecticut and she will be touring for the first time in the summer of 2016. Dates and venues of her debut UK tour are yet to be confirmed.
